Public Transport
Austria has an excellent public transport infrastructure and is also characterized by the fact that public transport is available at very reasonable prices.
Railways
The Austrian Railway, ÖBB, boasts a punctuality rate of 97%, and it ranked among the most reliable railway operators in Europe in 2021.
With 4,000 trains and 30,000 bus routes, the ÖBB transports around 1.3 million passengers daily, and about 95 million tons of goods each year. According to the ÖBB, electricity used for the trains is from 100% renewable energy. In 2020, the Austrian Railway began expanding its night train service to European destinations.
There is also a private owned railway company called Westbahn which serves the route from Vienna to Salzburg.

Motorway
There is a toll for using motorways in Austria. If you are using the motorways, you must obtain a road tax sticker (Autobahnvignette) at the Austrian border. You can buy this road tax sticker at any post office or tobacconist’s shop (Trafik) in Austria and at border posts and motorway service areas.

Airports in Austria
Vienna International Airport
Thanks to its favorable location in the center of Europe, Vienna International is an important hub for a number of European destinations. Information desks are located in the departure halls of terminals 1 and 3 and in the arrivals hall of terminal 3. Flight information is also available online.
Vienna Airport boasts ideal road connections with highway systems leading directly to Western and Eastern Europe and a route network with more than 180 destinations, of which over 40 are in Eastern Europe. The airport is not far from Vienna city center and can be reached by train in less than half an hour.
