Pharmacies
Medicines may only be sold in pharmacies in Austria. Only some simple medicines such as certain vitamin preparations or teas may also be sold in drugstores.
Opening hours
General opening hours of pharmacies in Austria:
Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Prescription fee
The prescription fee is 7.10 euro. There is a cap on prescription fees: Anyone who has already paid two percent of their annual net income for prescription fees in the current calendar year is automatically exempt from prescription fees for the rest of the year.
